I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan
In The Name of Allah, the Most Gracious Most Merciful
May God bless Muhammad and his pure family
O God, make Muhammad and the family of Muhammad my fortress from adversities, and my stronghold from fears, and save me through them from every tyrant and transgressive enemy, and from the evil of what I know and what I deny, and what is concealed from me and what I see. Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
Welcome, my dears, to a speech about the concept of artificial intelligence
Those of you who know what artificial intelligence is, raise your hand
Audience: I know it from afar
Lecturer: So not near
Look, we in this speech have not come to support or oppose artificial intelligence
This is an explanation speech. Just to open some horizon
In the end, we want to see the developments taking place in the world, especially in this last year (2022).
Artificial intelligence in this year has exploded
A lot of uses
Some, when hearing the term artificial intelligence, may imagine the voice assistant on the phone
Like Siri or Google Assistant
to whom you say:
Hey Siri, How are you?
Siri: I feel good, thanks for asking
Or you say:
Hey Siri, how is the weather today?
Siri: Should be sunny today
This is called artificial intelligence (AI)
Some people may imagine such things
And some might imagine robot movies
Like Terminator or Matrix and such
Anyway, the research on AI is very important
Very important, because it is spreading fast
You, with AI, open your notes app
which is powered by AI
And you write in it: Write me an article of 5000 words about, for example: Karbala
You see it writing it for you
You tell it: Brainstorm about the personality of Imam Hussein (pbuh);
It brings you 10 points in less than 5 seconds
And when you read it, you find it of good quality and accuracy
Sometimes you may use Google translator and see it make a lot of mistakes
But this one, it doesn’t
It is not that it copies the information from another site, but it by itself writes the sentences
You say to the AI: Make a video for me on a topic, and you will see it work for you
You tell it: Make a design for me, for example, in which a man is sitting on a chair and around him… You see him designing for you
This is all there but I want you to be a little patient
Because first we have to talk about it in theory
Then if we are done with the theoretical stuff, there are models that we will look at
Not only will we look at models made by European countries or America, for example
Rather, we will also look at models made by neighboring countries, such as the Islamic Republic of Iran, or here in Bahrain
Yes, here in Bahrain there are models they are working on
All of these models will be reviewed
All of this speech is based on the words of Imam Khamenei (may his blesses last)
He says: The republic should be among the top ten countries in the field of AI
And this is now happening
The Islamic Republic of Iran ranks eighth in scientific research on AI
There is first China; They are very active
They outperformed the US in this field
Then Singapore
US, France, UK
Iran, then Italy, …
Unfortunately, there is a weakness on the application side
In terms of application, the republic ranks 77 in the world
But there is nothing wrong because these scientific fields are always established first with research
First scientists research, then turns into application bit by bit;
and there are models that I’m going to show you
What is artificial intelligence?
Philosophers so far differ in the meaning of intelligence; So what is intelligence?
what do you think?
What is intelligence?
Audience: something close to the concept of genius
Speaker: By genius, what do you mean? preservation? learning? perception?
Audience: who innovates
Speaker: Well done
There are 4 theories about intelligence among philosophers
Some [philosophers] say that
intelligence is a person’s ability to adapt to the conditions around him
Have you seen the kind that when he attends a gathering…
He/she knows what to say, what no to say
How much to say, when to shorten, when to simplify his words, when to complicate
According to some philosophers, if a person is able to adapt to the environment…
They say about him: he/she is an intelligent person
Another group of philosophers say:
Intelligence is the human ability to learn easily and quickly
Have you seen the person who learns fast and everything is easy for him?
They say about him: he/she is an intelligent person
Another group of philosophers…
They say: Even a computer can learn, so this is not intelligence
It does not matter how much information you have, but intelligence is the human ability to analyze, create, and conclude new things
When there is information in front of me…
I think about it, reflect on it, and extract new information
Here, they say about him: he/she is an intelligent person
And another group still insists that intelligence is the ability to memorize
In other words, the higher your score on an exam, the more intelligent you are
Now, among these four theories, which one is popular in the world?
Audience: memorization
Speaker: memorization, unfortunately… unfortunately…
If we now know the meaning of intelligence by philosophers,
can we combine these theories? Yes
Intelligence is the ability to link phenomena
If someone wants to connect phenomena…
First, he/she should learn
Secondly, he/she must perceive and analyze
Right or not?
And in the position of speaking, must have a kind of memorization
In the position of speaking or statement, he/she must have a kind of memorization
This they call intelligence
Now, let’s talk about artificial intelligence; what is it?
Many people do not distinguish between technology, for example,
and AI, so they put everything in one basket
No, AI is a type of technology that is fed by information
It is fed millions of information, scholarly articles, research papers, photos and videos…
Then by certain algorithms, it is able to, for example:
Display information
Infer information
Solve problems
Move and modify things
For example, you say to the AI:
Draw me..
Yes, Hussain is an expert in artificial intelligence
You say to it: Design for me, it moves the background for you to a place, puts the face in a place, and on…
The ability to analyze, the ability to use statistics
Where does it gets such an ability? How does it becomes so intelligent?
We said first: collecting information from the Internet
The Internet has millions of articles, right? So it reads and reads by giving it this data
Second: through games
A lot of the games we play are basically passive information gathering for the AI
This is a project they did in Bahrain
A university professor…
They wanted to feed the Bahraini dialects to artificial intelligence
How do they collect this data?
So they developed a game
In it, you listen to a dialect and answer: Is it the dialect of the people of Duraz [town]? or Sitra? or Muharraq?
My point is, for example, I didn’t play it, I read about it
Or, for example: record your voice and assign which accent is this..
People thought it was just a game, but in fact it was an AI project
The intelligence and ability of this program reached a point where it could
distinguish 4 Bahraini dialects with an accuracy of more than 80%
One way to collect data is through games
Third, by feeding it statistics
One of the tools AI scientists use, and by the way, it’s not a difficult discipline
When we talk about artificial intelligence, do not think that it is something very difficult
It is a specialization that you study like other majors at the university
There are courses and it is very easy to learn
We will talk later about how to confront AI, and we will mention many points
[We said] through statistics.. [as well] through the science of philosophyThere is a very close connection between the issue of artificial intelligence and its engineer scientists and philosophers who study how the human mind works
They always take [feedback] from those
Then they modify their theories, this always happens
How many theories of artificial intelligence have failed!
The reason is that it is difficult to simulate the human mind
They go and find out where the flaw is, they return to philosophers
They go and find out that yes…
The human brain contains approximately 100,000 neural networks
This is what gives a person the ability to weight things up
For example, someone asks you: How are you?
One time you say: Thanks God
Another time he asks you: How are you?
This time you say: Good
Another time he says: How are you?
You say: Fine
See, this is weighting things up
They said that this is not enough in artificial intelligence, whenever you say something to it, it gives you the exact same answer
For example, Google has been working on this matter,
and the name of their technology is Tenor
Or what is called as a term “Neurolinks”
So that whenever you ask AI the same question, it gives you another answer based on logical possibilities
But what are the theories towards AI in Islamic sciences?
[jokingly] Now we want to introduce it to the Islamic Seminary, to make the AI a MuslimThere are scholars with this theory, that what is this nonsense?!
You cannot benefit from AI in Islamic Sciences, in the Seminary,
in study of narration chains, in jurisprudence, in logic, in Arabic morphology or grammar,
in Quran interpretation, in spreading the message of Islam, in history..
You can’t benefit from it
Religion is known by the power of minds [not computers]!
Don’t come to us with a computer and think you’ve accomplished something
Artificial intelligence is not capable
This is a certain theory; those against AI
The theory of AI advocates is that, in the end, this is a tool
Right or not?
For example, one day we did not have the method of electronic research, for the scientist himself was moving from book to book, but how much is his ability?
how much is his ability?
He has 2 hours, 8 hours, a week, and he wants to prepare for a specific topic.
How many books can he review? How many books can he read?
We brought him something simple
electronic search
(ar.lib.eshia.ir)
He/She searches for the desired topic,
the search takes him exactly to certain places in the book,
and he/she reads 200 results in two hours
This made it a lot easier for him, right or not? And this is a tool
When we come and talk about artificial intelligence and its usefulness in Islamic sciences…
We did not come to say: O people, we have come to replace the Islamic law jurists
Let’s replace the interpreters, let’s replace the doctors, the engineers, the designers…
This is not what we want to say
Rather, we say that this is a tool that can be used in sciences
The proponents of this theory say that the sciences taught in the Islamic Seminary are taught in a somewhat isolated way
As if every science is on an island.
Arabic Morphology is on an island by itself, grammar too, logic too..
We need AI; using existing techniques such as Triples…
Or Clustering or Classification
We need some of the techniques in artificial intelligence to link these sciences together
To make a link between synonyms, similarities, the related, opposites, contradictions
When this connection occurs…
Why?
The jurist or the researcher when he wants to reach a solution for a specific issue
He must take a lot of things into consideration in his research
For example, imagine
In Arabic morphology, we have 300 scientific issues, for example
In Arabic grammar, we have 500 scientific issues
In the Islamic Science of Jurisprudence Principles (Usul), which is the science that gives us the common elements in the process of jurisprudential deduction
If one wants to become a jurist, he must study the Science of Jurisprudence Principles
For example, there are 1000 scientific issues in it
Philosophy has 5000 scientific issues
The jurist when he is in the position of deducing a specific issue…
Or a specific research, or a particular fact…
He must take all of these scientific issues into consideration
What do I mean?
I mean 300 scientific issues multiplied by 500 by 1000 by 5000
That is, you have to multiply this opinion with all opinions,
then the second opinion with all opinions…
You understand the method?
Usually this is very difficult
This is why we sometimes have a difference in the opinions of jurists
Because the sciences abounded, the issues abounded
And human energy is limited
What does artificial intelligence do?
It comes to help
It accelerates this process
I repeat, we did not come to say: We want to replace scholars, or replace specialists in all fields
We say: this is a tool
In the end it helps, right or not?
Okay
If artificial intelligence has now reached a point where it can benefit us in medicine, economics, and so on…
So why can’t it help us in Islamic seminary sciences as well?
Why, for example, can’t it help us with Arabic language?
For example, in medicine
In the Islamic Republic there is a company…
By making use of artificial intelligence in their factories..
They can detect contaminated cans, where they put food in…
and these contaminated cans are automatically taken out of the manufacturing circuit
They say that the contaminations they discover are not seen with the naked eye
Well that’s a benefit
for example, a company called DeepMind, which is owned by Google…
They use artificial intelligence, and they’ve fed it with all the herbs information in the world, all the medicines in the world…
All the diseases in the world…
All the antagonisms that occur between medicine A and medicine B…
For example, in patients with diabetes, or for example in such-and-such age…
It is fed all this…
He has reached the point of being able to create new medicines for specific diseases
This is in medicine
In economics..
There are a lot of examples in economics
For example, artificial intelligence can help us to see supply and demand in the market
A system, for example, sees that this commodity in January, sees increased demand
Artificial intelligence tells you in advance that the goods must be provided for this existing demand
Tesla, for example, is a car company
They make self-driving cars. Mark the place on the map, and the car takes you there
And there are sensors, and AI, and it keeps itself in the lane
And if the light is red, the car stops, and if a car in front of you slows down, it also slows down
And so… This is AI
This is in economics and medicine. What about the law?
Now the use of artificial intelligence is on the rise in the legal field
It is able to write contracts by itself
It sees by itself what are the terms from which conflicts usually arise
Problems, quarrels, therefore it amends or cancels them…
He gives you beautiful, smart contracts
They also use it in the practice of law and give it cases…
Certain cases in court…or as they say cases…
It gives them the percentage of winning or losing the case
Because they fed him information, that when 1,000 cases like this went to court, 700 of them lost
They feed it this case
This is in law
What other field do you want?
in the metaphorical space, the social media
Haven’t you seen, for example, when you search for Ghozi [an Arabic food], then everywhere you go you see Ghozi?
This is done using artificial intelligence, it tracks you
This is used in ads
He doesn’t want to pay for his ad to be promoted to someone who isn’t interested
For example, when you search for “iPhone” or “scooter”…
It shows you a scooter ad because you want it, because you looked for it
This is artificial intelligence in social media
What else is it used for? Mention a field
Audience: sports
Speaker: You are an athlete, think about it
In love?
You mean in psychology
Anyway, for example in marriage there are sites using artificial intelligence…
So that the first party writes his specifications, his religion, what he likes, and whether he smokes, for example, or not, his height, and the like…
And the system sees the percentage of compatibility, for example, 95%, so it knows that this person is suitable for this person
This they did in Iran, for example, this application
Also in entertainment, many of the games they made for old devices such as PlayStation 3 or 4…
They fully updated them for new devices using artificial intelligence
They raised the quality of the game using artificial intelligence only, not by a designer, to suit PlayStation 5 devices
Also in security, the [Islamic] Republic [of Iran] created a program called “Frashenasa”
farashenasa.ir
So that it identifies people without the need to show the identity card or passport.
If artificial intelligence has benefits in all these sciences and fields, how can it not have benefits in Islamic sciences?
For example, in semantics
I mean, “what does this term mean?”
We have a big problem here
We have a big problem here, what is it?
Most of the meanings assigned to terms are not precise definitions of the term
It is not an exact meaning, but a customary meaning
That is, they return to custom to understand the meaning, for example, of singing
A customary induction takes place
There is no precise definition of this word
Therefore, until now in the Book of Makasib, they did not reach a comprehensive definition of it [singing]
Artificial intelligence can help in such cases, how? for example:
In the Holy Quran, we have at least 5 words, all of which have the meaning of sadness
We have the word “Bath”; “Aboth”
We have “Al Karb”, “Al Hamm”, “Al Ghamm”, “Al Huzn”
Well what is the difference between them?
What is the difference between them? Sometimes a person gets depressed…
Sometimes he gets anxious…
Sometimes he feels bad about someone’s action…
Each of these [feelings] has a meaning
It is not correct when we translate the Qur’an, we put in exchange for all these words one word, for example: Sadness
They all became one word
This is not right
Artificial intelligence [if we feed it with sources] comes and sees the correlations and opposites between the [words] of the Qur’an and the narrations
So it comes and says: Usually, when “Al Karb” is used, in its opposite, “Al Kashf” (uncovering) is used
Oh God, reveal (uncover) my “Karb”
Knowing the antonym teaches you a lot about the word itself
it says: Usually, when “Al Hamm” is used, in its opposite, “Al Faraj” (relief) is used
In opposite of “Al Ghamm”, “Al Tanfees” (ease) is used
It helps a lot with knowing the words, if we can connect them like this
The process will become much easier
In Arabic morphology as well, and unfortunately this science is very isolated despite its importance
Arabic Morphology is the science that gives you [information] about the word, its reality, structure, derivatives, forms…
Meaning the features of the noun, verb and adjective
For example, “Elm” (knowledge), from its derivatives: “Ma’loom” (known), “Este’lam” (inquiry), “Aleem” (knowledgeable), “Aalem” (scholar)
All this they study in the science of morphology
How beautiful if we have an artificial intelligence system, and the student writes in it, for example: “Dars” (lesson)
So it gives him all its derivatives
“Madrasa” (school), “Madroos” )thoughtful), and so on…
It gives him all its derivatives, with the meaning [significance] of each derivative
And it gives you a sentence as an example
“I went to “Madrasa” (school)”, for example, so that the student of knowledge understands in what context this word is used
Morphology is used a lot in spreading the message of Islam, in public speaking
In the end, the student of knowledge wants to solve people’s problems, right?
Or he wants to write something on the Internet, or write an article or a book, he will use these derivatives
Artificial intelligence can help him/her in this matter
In [the science of] grammar, for example
It is the science in which the conditions of the Arabic language are studied in terms of the sentence’s structure
Sometimes we have some sentences, which have 6 layers
There are many in the Holy Quran
For example [the first part] is a “Mobtada” (starter) and the “Khabar” (news) is a “Jumla Fe’lia” (a sentence with a verb)
And the sentence with a verb contains a verb, a subject, and so on, so we have a layered sentence
Well, what is the connection between these layers?
Artificial intelligence, using its techniques, can decompose and fragment these layers
By giving it a paragraph or a sentence, the AI can “E’raab” (parse) it to you
To make sure whether your parsing is correct or not
Should the end of the Arabic word has the sound of
“Dhamma” (O), or “Fat’ha” (A) or “Kasrah” (E)
AI can help
In Rijal for example? Do you know what is the science of Rijal?
[The discipline of Islamic studies in which the narrators of Hadith are evaluated]
Once they made a video, 20 people were sitting next to each other, each passing the information into the ear of the other
When the information reached the last person, what happened? Totally changed
Right?
These 20 are called the “Rijal” [The Narrators]
So the information reached us from [a narrator] from [a narrator] from [a narrator] from Imam Reza, peace be upon him
Of course, the difference in Rijal is that the issue is not that simple [as in the video they published]
So that each says in the ear of the other, no, they ask him: did you write the information?
Do you have discipline [in transferring the narration]?
I mean, are you accurate in your transfer of information?
No, so-and-so is forgetful, or is not Shia, or is not trustworthy
It is possible that he is lying
There is a lot of accuracy in the science of Rijal, which gives us this reassurance that this narration has indeed reached us correctly
Iran worked in this field a program whereby the jurist gives it his Rijal’s principles
We have perhaps 18 principles in the science of Rijal
For example, I as a jurist…
I don’t mean myself
Is “reassurance” considered a proof for me? If I am reassured with what the Rijali [the scholar who specializes in Rijal] says
Is “sense” a proof? That I saw/heard, for example, or “intuition” is enough?
There are a lot of Rijal’s principles
[The jurist] gives it his principles, then writes the name of the narrator, Al-Mukhtar Al-Thaqafi, for exampleAnd based on his principles, [the program] tells him whether the character is trustworthy or not
Do I consider a non-Shia trustworthy or not? For example, a Christian person told us something
These are all principles that exist by our jurists
In the science of logic…
In the science of logic they teach students in the scientific seminary;
(Of course, logic is the science that teaches you how to think correctly)
So that if you provide correct premises, the conclusion will be correct as well
For example, you say: Ali is just
And all just people are pious
So Ali is what?
This is logic, okay?
And this [kind of reasoning] they call syllogism
There are many types of syllogism, and this is the first type that I mentioned to you
A = B | B = C | So A = C
under certain circumstances
But when you go back to the Qur’an, the sentences are not that simple
Right or not?
It is not in this simple, arranged formula, but rather it is a complex structure
Well, using artificial intelligence, you could give it the verse
And artificial intelligence turns this verse into a logical syllogism for you
Maybe you wrote a post on Instagram, and you want to know whether it is logical or not, based on the rules of logic science
You want to know, is it logical or not
You give it the text and it tells you: Here you wrote an introduction, but no conclusion was written for it, or here you wrote a conclusion, but its introduction is incomplete, and so on
Or give it a very ordinary sentence, and it turns it for you into a syllogistic sentence
Right?
For example, you say to it: The believer is among the people of piety
You say to it: Make a logical syllogistic sentence for me, so what does it do for you?
The believer is aware that God watches him in all his situations
1st premise
Let’s go to the 2nd premise
Who is aware that God watches him in all his situations is among the people of piety
Conclusion:
The believer is among the people of piety
Right? So it converts it to a logical sentence
in codicology, which is often used in seminary
A book comes to you, from a very ancient scholar, in his own handwriting
[Problem] Every scholar has a different handwritingOne of the most difficult tasks in the Islamic Seminary is to convert this manuscript into a computer-typed copy, into a PDF format, so that people can benefit from it
So difficult… it blows your mind! I have sat with some of those who are working on manuscripts; 7 years working on a book
It’s very difficult
You can use artificial intelligence to feed it, for example, 10 pages of this manuscript…
So that you accustom it to the handwriting of this scholar, and say to it: This [shape] is meant to be this [letter], and then you let it complete itself
It completes itself
Is this a benefit or not? Good…
In Tableegh (Conveying Islam)
Also there are many benefits
in the interpretation [of the Holy Qur’an]
I do not want to elaborate further, the idea is clear to you
AI that can connect words, and provide you with synonyms and correlations…
Usually when this word is used, about ten words later, that word is used, so there is a connection between them
This helps with many things
Are you afraid of artificial intelligence or not?
I will show you some examples, God willing
Of course, I cannot show you all the models, because some of them are private, they give them to certain companies
But as far as possible I will try to show you what is there
Artificial intelligence is getting smarter day by day
To the point that some scientists are concerned
This will take our place
Indeed, I used it and said to it: Give me…
Give me a lecture, for example, about Imam Khamenei
It gave me a long, wide topic in 5 seconds; it wrote me a full 45 minutes lecture
I couldn’t believe it, so I started to read
I found it well written, his date of birth is correct, his parents names are correct, his academic rank is correct, how did he become the Wali al-Faqih is correct…
Sometimes it is a cause for fear
But how can we face artificial intelligence?
By relying on it 100%?
We get lazy, we sit down and we say to it: Work for me!
This is indeed dangerous
This is a big danger
It is now powerful like this, give it 7 more years!
It will take over all your jobs
I’m serious
For example, in Iran there were taxi offices
A person sitting at a table receiving phone calls and 10 drivers sitting in front of him
He makes sure of their good conduct, that they do not have a criminal record, for example, and that they are trustworthy
He gets a call. We are from so-and-so and want to go to so-and-so
He tells one of the drivers to go to the customer
Do you know that 80% of these offices are shut now in Iran?
Why? Because an app came in your phone, so you hold the phone and…
And finds where your geographical location is, picks up a taxi for you
The car that brought a traveler to a location near you takes you to the place you want to go…
From there you take another traveler, to another place, and so on…
[Offices] are no longer neededArtificial intelligence is penetrating a lot of jobs
So how do you face it?
The first step in confrontation is to be aware of this topic
When I wanted to bring up this topic, some people criticized me
They were saying: Aren’t there more important topics than artificial intelligence to bring up at a holy place like a Matam?
Don’t we have other priorities?
Dear, understand what’s going on [in the world]
These disciplines that we are studying today in the educational curricula; all in the world; Whether at school or university…
Do not prepare students for the next 10 years
You want to teach him multilingualism, for example, you says: O son, you have to learn English; French too, and other languages…
7 years later, with your AirPods in your ears; Using AI, someone speaks Chinese, it translates to your own language, and you hear it
And you speak [in your language] and it translates for him in his ears and he hears you
The matter is complicated. The next step is the need to pay attention to correcting the educational curricula
Abbas Noureddine mentions [bad curricula] in his book “The Educational Curriculum,” which is one of the books that has many sources. How many pages at the end mention only sources from foreign universities; like Harvard or MIT
This is a disaster. What we are preparing our children for now, they will not need in the future
Much of what we are studying now is not needed by the child in the future
So we [with new education] must outperform artificial intelligence
We have to be the locomotive that drives artificial intelligence
We must control it, not the other way around
I don’t know if you’ve seen the animation about a child who has what they call in English a “dragon”
What is dragon in Arabic?
Yes, “Tananeen” (dragons) are attacking the city, so what does the boy do? tame them
He tames the dragon
So that after that, everyone owns a dragon and rides it, he becomes in control of it, not for [artificial intelligence] to come and control us
Hence it is necessary to localize artificial intelligence
What does localization mean? It means to create it locally
The artificial intelligence that is now in the West is a disaster
I’ll show you later in the examples and you won’t believe the manipulation
The information they feed to artificial intelligence belongs to them and not to us. For example, do they feed it the book “Al-Kafi”?
Will they feed it “Bihar al-Anwar” or “the Qur’an”? of course not
Rather, their information and sources, not ours
China worked on it; Not only artificial intelligence, but the whole Internet
They said: We have about two billion people, so why do we make them users of the American YouTube?
I’m going to make an alternative YouTube for them
They have Instagram, and I’m going to make TikTok for them
They have such, I will make WeChat for them
Why should I give them two billion of my people so that they can benefit from them economically?
Rather, I will benefit from them; so they localized the Internet
All American programs are blocked
They did the same in the case of AI
If Iran wants to win the issue of artificial intelligence in the future…
They have to start the process of creating it locally; and they’ve already started
Iran is the 8th country in AI research
They must create it from scratch; and they feed it the information they want
So if the two AI(s) are one day opposite to each other, the [Islamic] model can win
The necessity of localization
Do I tell you something? And this is the last point before I show the examples
No need to be scared
Speaker: Who is smarter? The AI or human intelligence?
Audience: Human intelligence
Majority say [that the smarter] is human intelligence?
Whoever says otherwise, raise his hand
Audience: currently AI [is the smarter]Speaker: Currently AI? How?
Audience: I mean, if you give it an order to search, as a first step, it is better and faster, but it has limits and human intelligence has no limits
Yes, AI is faster
And also to perform operations accurately
But…
I’m going to mention three things that make human intelligence stronger than AI, okay?
First: the issue of perception and awareness
I give you an example, there is a Chinese tour guide who takes tourists to certain places in China
These tourists over time ask him questions, what is this? How that happened? What is the history of this?
The guide over time knows what questions they will ask him, right?
So he turns these questions into numbered papers,
so that each question is on a paper; for example 10 questions
He gives them the questions and keeps the answer sheets for himself
Now when they ask him, they bring out question 1, for example, because he knows the number, so he gives them answer paper number 1
This could get deeper
He is now able to hire a Bahraini employee, for example, to give the answer,
Does this Bahraini need to know the [Chinese] language?
Does he need to have full awareness of the language? No, it has become a matter of numbers. He gives the answer sheet based on the question number
AI is also like this, it does not have consciousness
It has no awareness of what it gives you, but anyway it gives
If we want to bring the analogy closer, we will also remove the numbers from the example
We put a room with buttons, so that each button is mechanically linked to an answer, and so on…
Now we don’t even have numbers, which means there is no need for language at all
The tourist himself presses the button and gets the answer
Here, the Chinese guide does not even need to work by himself or hire his Bahraini colleague
This they call very elementary AI
But notice, it doesn’t understand anything, it doesn’t have awareness, how?
Look, this tourist may come up with a new question, the guide is able to answer it, where the AI will have a problem
It is possible for this guide, when he answers the question, to adapt to it and change his answer to suit the asker
For example, if the questioner was a man [answering in a manner], or if she was a woman, he could answer with more respect and decency
For example, if he was a child, or an old man, he might simplify or complicate the answer
For example, if he was an illiterate person, or an expert person, okay?
An expert person has visited China 1000 times, so you do not answer him the answer you give to someone who visits for the first time
Humans are able to adapt, but AI has not yet been able to adapt
A person can adapt and make weight
He says: I preferred to simplify my answer because the one in front of me is a child
I don’t give him anything complicated
But now, if I ask Siri on my phone 1000 times: How are you?
Each time it gives an answer but without any preference
That is, why did it choose this answer over that answer
They gave it random answers to say without any preference
This adaptation to the audience is not present in artificial intelligence
Let’s move on to examples
There are other things too, for example the issue of morality, the real motivation
Islam educates scholars so that their motive is a moral motive when giving information or results
His motive is out of piety, out of true politics, out of religion
As for all companies that work on AI, such as Meta, Google, or Apple
What is their motive?
What is their motive?
Their motive is economic profit
Now my question to you is this: a party gives you information and its motive is moral, and a party gives you information and its motive is economic.
Which of the two sides is more likely to be truthful?
The one that [his motive] is moral, of course
Of course, they are studying and solving this problem using philosophy; human ethics and so on…
That’s a big difference
Guys, the information you get from a scholar doesn’t have the same weight when you get it from AI
What you get from a specialist is different
Let’s move on to the examples
Well, this [Craft] is an AI-powered note taking app
By the way, all note taking apps are now in the process of adding AI to them; It’s like a kind of competition between them
Now I have an AI in front of me and I can ask it anything, for example, to write me an article, or to do brainstorming, or to write me the pros or cons of a topic
Suggest a topic; what do we write for example?
Husain, I expected a more difficult subject than.
For example, to give it an Islamic topic in order to make it helpless
Electronic Games
You say to the smart assistant
[jokingly] You also put the camera video in a corner, look at the AII tell it: give me a brainstorm; look at the speed
I told it: give me a brainstorm
Developing a platform for playing online games with friends.
Creating a mobile app for playing games on the go.
Introducing virtual reality elements into…
Good idea
Give me something harder; Let’s open a new note
Who created God?
This one no… I will not write it during a live broadcast…
For example…
For example, let’s write: Imam Husain (pbuh), okay?
I tell it: Write an article for me about Imam Husain (pbuh)
Imam Husain is a name that is revered by Muslims all over the world.
All Muslims know him
He was the son of the fourth Caliph Ali and the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad
Peace and blessings be upon him
It even wrote (pbuh) in full
He is one of the most iconic figures in Islamic history…
…for his martyrdom in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
Accurate information
The least you can benefit is that you can take ideas
Now for example I tell it…
For example this paragraph
For this paragraph I can tell it…
to translate it, or I give it my own command…
I tell it for example: Soften tone
The sentence is harsh a bit, so I ask it to soften the tone
Imam Husain is a highly respected figure among Muslims around the world. He was the son of the fourth Caliph Ali and the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. He is a “beloved”…
It changed the paragraph for me, used the word “beloved”
It softened the tone. You can tell it to harshen it, or make it more enthusiastic
These are all capabilities of AI.
How can it know feelings?
Okay, this is the 1st example
Of course, there are very harmful examples, such as what they used in the American elections
With AI, they monitored what were people’s problems? What are they complaining about?
The speech was in a way that attracted them, although he did not want to keep his promises. This is the damage of AI
Also [they] could use it to fake characters
Watch this video
Video: I am not Morgan Freeman. What you see is not real
Well, at least in contemporary terms it is not
The character above is by AI, not the real famous American actor
The real character is the one below, and they tell the AI to imitate facial movements and voice
He speaks as if the real actor is speaking; Look how real it is
… that I am not even a human being; would you believe me?
What is your perception of reality?
Is it the ability to capture, process and make sense of the information our senses receive?
Well, the same thing; AI to change voices
Video: Today I’m testing what looks to be the most realistic voice changer I’ve ever come across
It changes the voice
Video: .. the technology that can turn even my voice to for example Morgan Freeman. I can just talk in this amazing voice…
As he speaks, he changes his voice into the voice of well-known characters
Video: .. or even Joe Biden. What’s cool is that all the voices are community made
Of course this is very dangerous, right?
That is, in the future, do not be surprised if you see the face of a scholar, or a video of him, saying what he did not say, or putting him in a place where he was not. In order to blackmail him or ruin his reputation or cause sedition and the like…
These things are now a push of a button [on a website], okay?
Iran, for example, created this page, Baqir Al-Uloom Foundation for Artificial Intelligence
So, for example, you give it a specific keyword in Instagram So it analyzes all the people who spoke about this word for you; Mahsa Amini, for example
For example, what are their emotions?
Do they speak rationally, or calmly, or nervously, and the like…
Who are the main characters talking about it and even analyzing the comments
This is also made by Iran, so you say to it:
Give me a text in the field of politics, sports, cinema, comedy, religion and the like…
Then choose the difficulty level:
Easy, Intermediate, Advanced, or Academic
What are the texts used in it?
Do you want it to contain proverbs, poems, quotes, verses, or narrations?
You tell it, and it gives you. You also specify the gender of the audience, whether the text is suitable for male or female
This site lists any new AI tool in the world, so you can discover all the tools related to AI
Any new tool you will see here, and it is named FuturePedia
For example, this site creates videos for you
You import your video file and set your preferences
It creates your video for all platforms
For example, since Instagram uses vertical videos, it automatically puts the two persons in the interview vertically
On YouTube, the two persons are placed horizontally
It creates the video according to the platform
Audience: But many of them are not available in Bahrain
I opened them in Bahrain and I have tried some of them,
but in Iran, for example, you are correct, many of them do not work
But here they usually work. Of course, some of them are for a monthly subscription, while others are free
What I showed you (the American actor) was from this website: voice.ai
What else?
This site allows you to create AI models
When you ask it, it does not bring you information from the Internet; websites, for example…
Rather, it gives you information that you add to it, or books that you have read, for example, and creates a custom AI model for you
Luma
With Luma, you can photograph anything and using AI, it turns it into a 3D image for you
This is a technique used by video editors to create a 3D background
I am showcasing these examples very briefly
Some of them I’ve spent hours trying
This is an AI note taking app
Gone are the days when you needed to sort out your notes…
University students or seminarians know the importance of writing notes
I may have 18,000 notes that I have written so far
With the days finding notes becomes difficult, so you have to arrange them and put them in folders, such as “economic” or “marriage”, for example, or add keywords
This app frees you of all these arrangements, as it itself arranges and classifies them
It is called mem.ai
This [website] gives you business ideas
For example, you want to start a new business, so you give it its title or ask it: What are some suitable projects for Bahrain?
It refers to phd articles in the field of business
And it gives you an idea that fits the geography in which you want to start the business
This one is called personal.ai
And this too is about note taking, so that you don’t need to write keywords, arrange in folders and waste time
This beautiful website, is called tome, and it creates presentations for you
Let’s create a new presentation
What topic do you suggest to make this presentation?
For example: Islamic Ethics
I click on Enter
It is generating the pages, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd…
It chooses suitable images by itself for each page
Let’s take a look at the pages
It created the 1st page for you, and on the 2nd it wrote an index, the importance of Islamic ethics, its purpose and benefits
It chose suitable photos for you by itself
Let’s go to an Iranian website called “Jame’ Al Ahadith” (The collector of narrations), which AI has been used in it
I search for a narration
For example: “The Zakat (charity) of knowledge is its publication.”
Of course, here you can filter the book from which you want the results, or does it have translation and explanation…
[Choose] who is the one who said the narration, is it a sacred narration, and also you choose in which century [the book containing the result was written]The length of the narration, whether it be short or long, and the like
Yes, this is not AI, but the section of “Related narrations” is
Of course the site is available in Arabic as well
When you click on the related narrations, they say results are given using AI
It brings you narrations that may be difficult to find in other ways, by opening other books and the like
So it brings: “The Zakat of knowledge is to teach it to someone who does not know it.” It is somewhat related…
“Everything has a Zakat, and the Zakat of knowledge is to teach it to the right audience.”
This is an example that Iran has worked on
Of course, in Iran there are about 100 companies specialized in AI
This is Baqer Al-Uloom Institution, they make systems and give them to other institutions
For example, there is an AI that can detect feelings in the text
There is a system called “Shifa” (Healing), I liked it very much
You give it the text, and it tells you where the Islamic deviation is, that is, against Islamic values
When you know the deviation in the text, you take it to another system called “Huda” (Guidance)
You give it the deviation, and it gives you all the verses and narrations that deal with it
Then you take it to another system called “Nasr” (Victory)
He gives you sentences, stories, proverbs, poems, and the like to tackle this deviation
Now that your informative content is ready, what’s your excuse if you don’t work?
May Allah’s blessings be upon Muhammad and his family
Audience: Allah’s blessings be upon Muhammad and his family
If you have a question, I am at your service. We have about 15 minutes
Attendance: Now there is a jurist in Islamic law that uses AI to search among all narrations…
There is another jurist that does not use AI in searching between narrations
Speaker [jokingly]: You want to make a problem for me
Audience: No, just an example
The jurist that used AI can give you the fatwa faster than the one who does not use it
If we compare contemporary jurists now with jurists 50 years ago, for example, then contemporaries give answers to sharia law questions much faster.
Speaker: What is your question?
Audience: Just an idea
Iran is now working on a very expert AI system for jurists
the jurist gives it his Jurisprudence Principles or Rijal’s scientific premises and the like during 36 stages
Then this system helps him to derive the legal ruling based on his premises in an easier and faster way
But we do not know which of them uses these things
But what we do know [as a hint] is that Imam Khamenei strongly encouraged the use of AI
This thing currently exists, and you do not know who uses it and who does not use it, and you cannot also say that the one who uses it is more accurate, because AI is a tool to speed up the process
Audience: It depends on the premises you give it Speaker: Yes
Attendance: What makes this kind of science seem far from us and that we cannot apply it and be creative in it?
The reason for this is firstly that many people do not know anything about it
Secondly, the culture of dependence on the West, so that we expect that everything should be worked on by those, not us
Look, for example, now in Bahrain there are 3 universities teaching AI, so who among you is ready to specialize in it?
For example, Bahrain Polytechnic has started the “Artificial Intelligence Academy”
The University of Bahrain has opened a master’s degree in AI
And there’s the Artificial Intelligence Association, too, and apparently a center…
Even in Iran, there are about 10 universities teaching artificial intelligence
I have all the names of the universities, for those who are thinking of studying there
It is not so complicated that we say: Woah! Robots will take over!
You can learn. It is a specialty, and nothing else
Audience: Excuse me, how can we open AI? Is it a specific app, for example, so that we can download it on the phone or computer?
As for applications, I presented some examples
For example, the notes app that has AI capabilities
And by the way, it gives you answers in Arabic as well. It’s just, we wrote in English
Audience: [I said this] so that we can apply
For example, the note taking app is called “Craft”
I hope the brothers who are working on editing the lecture video, mention these apps in the video description
It is called “Craft”. There is also “mem.ai” and “Notion”
Notion is also an app for writing notes with AI capabilities
Eventually you need to look for these tools, and there is a site called FuturePedia
This site contains everything new about AI
This is how I discover them, try them and see what are their uses
Audience: Well done
Speaker: May God bless you
Audience: Is it possible for the West to…
Speaker [jokingly]: You have asked before…
Audience: This is my last question
Audience: Can the West benefit from AI to affect Islam and Muslims?
That, for example, artificial intelligence is used for brainwashing?
Aren’t they already using it for that?
I mean, is it in an effective way?
It is widely used, and a prominent example is DeepFake, which fakes the faces and voices of characters
It’s a really dangerous tool, it doesn’t look like to be fake
Attendance: There is an example of AI in Siri, when you ask it about the weather and the like in Palestine…
Speaker: Hey Siri, how is the weather in Palestine?
Siri: It’s currently clear at 13 degrees in Palestine. Expect rain starting tonight. Temperatures will be fairly consistent, averaging about 13 degrees.
Yes, I realize that some maps do not show Palestine and that is why I insist on localizing AI, otherwise they cannot be relied upon.
Once I asked him about one of our “Mujahideen” (resistance fighters); to tell me a story about him…
This is purely Islamic content and artificial intelligence cannot be accurate about it
The first time it told me that he was born in 1991
I pressed again to get another answer, and it said that he was born in 1992
As for the 3rd time, it said [that he was born in] 1989, and the correct answer was the 1st time; 1991, so you cannot rely on it
The biggest problem with AI today is that you can’t be sure that its information is correct
It answers you in a very confident way, but perhaps its answer is all nonsense
Whoever uses AI in research and the like must refer to another source, such as a book and the like
Speaker: Pray for Muhammad and the his family
Audience: O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family
